Dr Michael Gilbertson graduated with his MBBS from the University of Melbourne. In his final year he was awarded the Howard Williams prize in Paediatrics. Dr Gilbertson undertook his clinical residency through the Royal Melbourne Hospital before starting training as a clinical haematologist at the Alfred Hospital and Monash Health. He then moved back to the Royal Melbourne Hospital to train as a laboratory haematologist and received his FRCPA and FRACP in 2012. Dr Gilbertson is currently pursuing a higher research degree by publication on “Aggressive Lymphoma”.
Dr Gilbertson has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. He is a member of the Australian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group, the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion and the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand. His special interests lie in Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma.
