Dr Alex Nirenberg graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne and trained in pathology in the public sector, including at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute. He undertook further training in dermatopathology including an elective at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology in New York, and received a post-fellowship Diploma in Dermatopathology in 2008.
Dr Nirenberg’s expertise in dermatopathology includes skin tumours, inflammatory dermatoses, alopecia, oral pathology and genital pathology. He is a Director of the Australasian Dermatopathology Society and is a panel member of the Avant Medical Experts Committee. He is also a board member of the Australasian College of Cutaneous Oncology, is the driver behind their dermatopathology education program and regularly teaches at doctor skin cancer workshops.
Dr Nirenberg has dual fellowships of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and joined Dorevitch Pathology in 2017.
