Professor Paul Waring migrated from the UK to Australia in 1975 and graduated in medicine from the University of Western Australia in 1982. He trained in anatomical pathology at the QEII Medical Centre in Perth, obtaining his Fellowship in 1990. He then completed a PhD in cell biology at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research in Melbourne under the supervision of Prof. Donald Metcalf and a fellowship in molecular pathology at Stanford University in California. Paul has held several senior posts including Director of Pathology, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (2001-4), Senior Director of Pathology and Diagnostics at Genentech, USA (2004-8), Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UWA (2008-10), Chair of Pathology at the University of Melbourne (2010-16) and Vice President of Medical Innovation a Roche Diagnostics, USA (2016). Paul has published over 140 scientific articles and abstracts, raised over $12m in research grant funding, given over 90 presentations in 15 countries since 2010 and served on numerous committees and advisory boards in the fields of cancer molecular pathology and personalized medicine. He is a Fellow of the RCPA, RCPath (UK), HGSA and was the inaugural chair of the RCPA Faculty of Science.
He joined Dorevitch Pathology in Feb 2017 as an anatomical and molecular pathologist with a special interest in translational oncology.
