Dr. Patrick van der Hoeven graduated from Queen’s University Medical School in Ontario, Canada in 1985. He served his internship at the Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto before opening a General Medical Practice in Northern Ontario. He then trained in General Pathology, obtaining his specialist certificate in 1994 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, becoming a Fellow of the college in the same year.
Dr van der Hoeven moved to Victoria, Australia in 1995 and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia that year. He worked for many years at Gippsland Pathology, becoming a partner and deputy director, before moving to Healthscope Pathology. In 2014, he returned to Dorevitch Pathology. Dr van der Hoeven has also been a senior lecturer at Monash University.
Dr. van der Hoeven is a general pathologist, with a particular interest in rural and regional medicine. His main interest is in providing consultative and educational services in a regional setting.
