Dr Richard Standish graduated with an MBBS from Melbourne University in 1994, and commenced Anatomical Pathology training in 1999 at the Royal Free Hospital (London), one of the major UK liver transplant centres. He completed his training in 2006 - including time working in research on image analysis measurement of liver fibrosis, and received Membership/Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK). Following this Dr Standish worked as a consultant in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at the Royal Free Hospital.
He returned to Australia in 2008, working in Geelong and at the Austin Hospital, before joining Dorevitch Pathology in early 2016.
Dr Standish is the Associate Professor and Coordinator of Pathology Studies in the School of Medicine at Deakin University. He has been a supervisor of pathology trainees and a standard setter for the RCPA Basic Pathological Sciences examination, and is on the committee for the new RCPA QAP gastrointestinal module.
Dr Standish has a particular interest in gastrointestinal and liver pathology, as well as a special interest in lymphoma.
