Associate Professor Afaf Haddad obtained her medical degree from St Joseph's University in Beirut before migrating to Australia. Upon completion of the Australian Medical Council examination, she trained in Anatomical Pathology at the Geelong Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, The Royal Children's Hospital and The Royal Women's Hospital and then worked at the Victorian Cytology Services and Royal Women's Hospital before joining Dorevitch Pathology in 2000.
A/Prof Haddad has an adjunct appointment at the University of Notre Dame. In addition to teaching medical students, A/Prof Haddad is heavily involved in training future Pathologists and is a supervisor or trainee registrars. She is a reviewer of "Pathology", the journal of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and an assessor for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). She is an active member of the International Academy of Pathology and a convenor at the annual scientific meeting of the Australasian division.
A/Prof Haddad is a regular speaker and contributor at national and international conferences in various topics related to gynaecological and skin pathology as well as fine needle aspiration cytology.
Her areas of special interest and expertise include Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal and Dermatopathology.
