Biography

A/Professor Zhong graduated with a medical degree in China and requalified in Australia. She then completed her training in chemical pathology at Monash Health, Austin Health and Melbourne Pathology and obtained her Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in 2006. She has also completed a Master’s degree in human nutrition at Deakin University and a PhD in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University at Monash University. 

A/Professor Zhong has 18 years of specialist experience in Chemical delivering quality clinical support, and collaborating with industry partners and multi-disciplinary medical teams clinically and in research. She has published widely in the area of vitamin D, vitamin B12, establishing thyroid function reference intervals in children and in pregnancy, and improving diagnostic accuracy of endocrine causes of hypertension.

A/Professor Zhong is also actively involved in education, training and mentoring of medical and scientific staff at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is currently an examiner for the FRCPA.
